Hey friends! This past weekend my sisters and I decided to try out some DIY face masks and see how we liked them. We all have different skin types so we tried out ones that are supposed to be better for one skin type over another.
Oatmeal Face Mask – This one was supposed to be best for oily skin.
We made this face mask for my sister who really struggles with oily skin so she gave this one a try.
1 tsp of honey
1 egg yolk
Oatmeal (add as much as needed for desired thickness)
How we liked it: This was not the best face mask. The oatmeal didn’t really stick to your face no matter how much honey you added. It also looked a little weird because the egg yolk made it extremely yellow.
Coffee Face Mask – This one was supposed to be best for having youthful skin
2 tsp. coffee grounds
2 tsp. of honey
How we liked it: I loved this one! The coffee grounds really exfoliated my face and the smell isn’t bad at all if you’re a coffee lover. It also stuck to my face really well so it didn’t make a huge mess while I was just relaxing with it on after. My face was super smooth after using this!
Yogurt Face Mask – This one is supposed to give glowing skin
2 tsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. of yogurt
How we liked it: My sister rated this one as ‘okay’. It was extremely cold when she first put it on since we did take some yogurt directly out of the fridge for this. It stayed in place though and didn’t make a huge mess which was nice though.
We had so much fun trying out all of these different face masks. I’m thinking about doing a post on DIY lip scrubs since who doesn’t love a little bit of inexpensive relaxing time?! Let me know if you have ever made any DIY face masks in the comments below!
