    Reads to Kick off February

Hey friends! Since I posted Reads to Kick off January last month, I thought I would include a couple more of my favorites that I have been reading.  I am all over the place with the different genres that I read but there might be something that you like or you might even want to try reading a new genre! Hillbilly Elegy This is a memoir about the author’s life growing up in the rust belt with his parent’s being apart of America’s White Working Class.  It discusses the many issues that families alike may face in this area; the struggle to overcome their upbringing and pursue different goals that…

The Power of a Thank You Note

Hey friends! Today I wanted to share how I’ve been randomly thinking about writing more Thank You Notes. I always hesitate to write Thank You Notes but honestly they’re one of my favorite kinds of handwritten letters.  Recently, this past semester, one of my professors had us write Thank You cards to someone in our lives who has impacted our transition as transfer students.  She reminded us that someone didn’t necessarily need to give us a physical gift to write them a note.  I honestly struggled to think of someone to write the note to since I can’t remember the last time I wrote a Thank You Note to someone…

    How I Journal

Hey Friends!  Today I’m going to share a little bit about my journaling history.  I always wrote in my journal but pretty infrequent.  Over this past summer, I decided that I would keep up with it and make myself write in it everyday for a month.  It wasn’t as hard as I thought but also not the easiest thing to do.  I tend to write at night right before I go to bed.  At first, it was pretty easy but as time went on I found it harder to find things to write about.  Pinterest came to my rescue.  I searched journaling prompts and found so many different prompts and…

    Weekend Update..(Surprise!)

Hey friends!  This past weekend I threw a surprise party for my younger sister.  She just turned 18 on Sunday.  I have never thrown a surprise party for anyone before so it was definitely an exciting time.  I was also never too into party planning but it was awesome! I want to throw parties for everyone I know, now.  She had no idea that anything was different and then she walked downstairs to find all of her friends and her family in the kitchen.  Decorating was one of my favorite parts, I chose a purple and black theme.  I got purple wrapping paper to put on the wall as a…

    Reads to Kick off January!

Here are some of my recently read favorites! Into the Water – Paula Hawkins This book was for sure part of the thriller genre.  It reminded me a lot of Girl on the Train and Gone Girl.  Once I started reading it, I could not put it down! Wonder – R.J. Palacio The movie for this just came out so you may have already heard of it.  This is a young adult novel but a good read for all ages.  I had to read it for my Intro to Elementary Education Class and everyone in my class loved it.  We all wanted to go see the movie together (even our…

    2017, Bringing it Together

2017.  There are many mixed opinions on how 2017 may have went.  Some loved it.  Some hated it.  For me, it was a time of learning.  I learned a lot about myself.  Here are some of the big areas of my life where I found the most growth. School I was attending my local university that was just not right for me.  I was miserable but still nervous to leave my comfort zone.  The greatest decision I ever made was deciding to apply to a school a little farther away.  It may be a longer commute but I have the major I want with smaller class sizes that actually work…

    Holiday Polishes

Hey friends! Today I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite nail polishes from Essie.  I recently went back to the Essie products and I remembered why I loved it so much before! I have been wearing the same color since Monday and it has not chipped at all.  Not to mention that there are so many colors to choose from.  I usually purchase mine from CVS when they are buy 2 get the 3rd free which is a pretty good deal considering they’re normally $9 each. Here are my new favorites! ‘For the Twill of It’ is the color that I am wearing now and I…

    My Favorite Fall Things

Hey everyone!! As I mentioned in previous posts, I love Fall!  Here are a few of my favorite things for the next few months: Iced Pumpkin Spice Coffee from Dunkin Donuts I just tried this flavor a couple days ago and I LOVE it.  I normally get the caramel swirl but this is definitely a great alternative for the Fall. The Colorful Foliage I’ve noticed all the trees are starting to change colors and its especially pretty here in Upstate New York with all the hills.  I couldn’t help but take several pictures of the trees while on my run yesterday! Pumpkins! I have not bought pumpkins to carve and…
